Lawrie Savage & Associates Inc. (LS&A) was formed in 1997 to provide specialized consulting assistance in financial supervision. Since that time the company has carried out more than 100 projects in more than 40 countries, as well as frequent consulting assignments in Canada.
The company was formed by Lawrie after many years of experience in related areas, including almost 20 years with the Canadian financial regulator (the last 8 years serving as head of General Insurance Supervision), several years as CEO of a Canadian life insurer and vice-chair of a Canadian general insurer, and Superintendent of Insurance of the Province of Ontario from 1990 to 1995. From 1995 to 1997, as Director, Insurance Consulting Services for Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterHouseCoopers) in Toronto, Lawrie became interested in assisting emerging market countries with the development of their financial regulatory frameworks and training staff in regard to modern financial regulatory approaches, including emerging international standards and best practices.
Over the years LS&A has been supported by a stellar group of associates having extensive professional backgrounds in financial supervision and related areas. This includes pre-eminent legal experts, highly qualified actuaries, supervisory specialist in audit and accounting, policy development and general supervisory practice. During some periods upwards of 20 associates have been working on various LS&A projects simultaneously.
